Effects of urbanization, biotic and abiotic factors on aquatic insect diversity in urban ponds

چکیده
Urbanization leads to drastic modifications of the terrestrial and aquatic environment. However, urban ponds may provide valuable habitats for different taxa, including insects amphibians. We aim understand how a set biotic abiotic factors influence insect diversity in 18 German metropolis Berlin, one greenest whilst most densely populated European cities. Greenspace is important stages some amphibians, providing crucial resources. Thus, greenspace was assumed have positive effects on diversity, whereas built-up area affect negatively. Because prey tadpoles, their abundance were depend tadpole abundance, which turn, depends other food (i.e., phytoplankton) availability ponds. visited twice year, spring summer, collected data that are known phytoplankton biomass, presence or absence large predators, as well physical–chemical parameters. higher total genera richness, alpha-diversity, evenness, richness taxonomic groups be associated with high surrounded by amount low levels area. Accordingly, we expected modulated newts fish, affected ponds’ conditions. Our results showed biological interactions water conditions override surroundings levels, insects’ responded differently land-use types around explain our findings due dependences demands towards and/or insects, differences colonization behavior.

Abiotic and biotic elicitors’ effects on secondary metabolites biosynthesis of periwinkle (Catharanthus roseus (Linn.) G. Don)
Based on recent statistical survey, the cancer is the third important factor in Iran mortality. Vinblastine and vincristine alkaloids are dominantly biosynthesized in the aerial parts of periwinkle, broadly applied for cancer treatment. Therefore, over production of these alkaloids by using the biotechnological approaches is inevitable. Since the terpenoid indole alkaloids (TIAS) biosynthesis p...

Low-density residential development, the fastest growing land use in the USA, is increasingly occurring adjacent to protected areas and in areas of high biodiversity. Thus, determining the environmental impacts, including the cumulative impacts, of proposed residential developments is a pressing challenge. The relative abundance and species richness of anurans in 19 ponds surrounded by landscap...
متن کاملEffects of water exchange and abiotic factors on zooplankton and epibenthic fauna in shrimp ponds
Assemblages of zooplankton and epibenthic invertebrates were collected from a commercial Penaeus monodon (Fabricius) pond at fortnightly intervals over an entire grow-out season. The pond inlet and outlet water were also sampled intensively over three 1-week periods throughout the season. Before stocking the ponds with shrimp postlarvae, copepods dominated the zooplankton. Immediately after the...
متن کاملBiotic and Abiotic Properties Mediating Plant Diversity Effects on Soil Microbial Communities in an Experimental Grassland
Plant diversity drives changes in the soil microbial community which may result in alterations in ecosystem functions. However, the governing factors between the composition of soil microbial communities and plant diversity are not well understood. We investigated the impact of plant diversity (plant species richness and functional group richness) and plant functional group identity on soil mic...
